Montreal-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Soran presents his new album Daystar. A mature work of art, Daystar marks turning point in the career of a creator whose technical mastery now serves a clear intention: to transcend the personal into the universal.

Inspired by finding love "even in the darkest places," Daystar explores healing, vulnerability, and hard-won optimism. "During the creative process, part of me was healed, recognizing the power of the universe," explains Soran.

The first single, 555, embodies this transformation. Between layered wordless choruses, delicate acoustic textures, and a driving rhythm section, the track captures the exact moment a "perfect situation" becomes reality—all while allowing the melancholy sweetness of memory to linger.

Approaching Daystar as an evolutionary extension of his previous work, Soran sought to create an album where the music transcends the language barrier, allowing the lyrics to "exist in their own dimension."

The title track, Daystar, born from a new relationship, blends hypnotic neon synths with incisive lyrics, etched into the sonic sky like a gleaming testament. Conversely, Luigi, written between the cramped walls of a London apartment, is an exercise in restraint: understated vocals, buried harmonies, and delicately brushed instruments create an intimate meditation.

In Sicily, armed with a battery-operated Tascam recorder, Soran captured the wind through the strings of an acoustic guitar — a contemplative process that feeds the album’s organic texture, yielding the magnificent track Sideways Falling.

Telescope delicately addresses the death of his mother, reimagined as a star watching over from space. Minimalist and poignant, the track illustrates Soran's ability to transform loss into light.

In a different register, Momentary Good Times evokes a shimmering landscape slowed into a hazy melody, a reminder of the importance of savouring fleeting moments. On Secrets, the voice becomes more fragile and insecure, revealing shame and a fear of being unworthy of love, in a rare moment of raw sincerity.

Following the album Loneliness Confetti (2024) — acclaimed for its seamless blend of vintage synths and sophisticated R&B — Soran continues his rise on the international stage. He has performed at major festivals such as Osheaga, M for Montreal, South by Southwest (SXSW), and School Night.

In parallel, his work as a producer and songwriter has led him to collaborate with numerous local and international artists, as well as renowned songwriters such as Linda Perry (4 Non Blondes), Y2K (Doja Cat, Jack Antonoff) & Jonah Shy (Shawn Mendes), Afterhrs (Niall Horan, One Direction, Maroon Five), Simon Wilcox (Nick Jonas), SirNolan (Selena Gomez, Alec Benjamin).

Between Montreal, Los Angeles and London, the last two years have led Soran to rethink his creative process, shifting from a full-blown studio setup to a minimalist and introspective writing process.

More than just an achievement, Daystar stands as a declaration of intent: that of an artist who turns virtuosity into a vessel for emotion, and personal growth into a space for collective resonance.
